Funding Projects

The Database is developed and maintained with the continual support of Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia. Several updates and enhancements are carried out with the financial contribution of the following projects:

  • 2014-2015: "Constraining Observations into Seismic Hazard - Seismic hazard map in Southern Italy", a project funded by Italy’s Department for Civil Protection.
  • 2014: "Revision of the seismotectonic setting of the Porto Empedocle LNG site (Sicily, Italy)", a professional consulting engagement by ENEL Ingegneria & Ricerca.
  • 2013-2016: ASTARTE, Assessment, STrategy And Risk Reduction for Tsunamis in Europe- a project funded by the E.U.
  • 2012-2016: MIUR-FIRB "Abruzzo" (Italian Ministry for University and Research): “High-resolution analyses for assessing the seismic hazard and risk of the areas affected by the 6 April 2009 earthquake”.
  • 2012-2015: GeoMol, Assessing subsurface potentials of the Alpine Foreland Basins for sustainable planning and use of natural resources - a project funded by the E.U.
  • 2012-2015: Project "MASSIMO", Monitoraggio in Area Sismica di SIstemi MOnumentali (Cultural Heritage Monitoring in Seismic Area) - Programma Operativo Nazionale (PON) Ricerca e Competitività 2007-2013 (Italian Ministry for University and Research and Ministry for Economic Development), funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund).
  • 2012-2014: Project SIGMA (Research and Development Program on SeIsmic Ground Motion), funded by EDF and ENEL for the investigation of the seismotectonics of the Po Plain.
  • 2011-2013: Flagship Project RITMARE – The Italian Research for the Sea – coordinated by the Italian National Research Council and funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research within the National Research Program 2011–2013.
  • 2009-2012: Seismic Hazard Harmonization in Europe (SHARE) - a project funded by the E.U.
  • 2008-2010: "Determinazione del potenziale sismogenetico in Italia per il calcolo della pericolosità sismica" - a project funded by Italy’s Department for Civil Protection.
  • 2005-2010: "Sviluppo Nuove Tecnologie per la Protezione e Difesa del Territorio dai Rischi Naturali" - a project funded by Italy’s Ministry of Research and Education through the program FIRB.
  • 2005-2007: "Valutazione del potenziale sismogenetico e probabilità dei forti terremoti in Italia" - a project funded by Italy’s Department for Civil Protection.
  • 2003-2005: "Studio delle sorgenti sismogenetiche potenzialmente pericolose e degli effetti attesi a seguito di eventi sismici lungo la fascia costiera marchigiana" - a project funded by Regione Marche, Servizio Protezione Civile e Sicurezza Locale.
  • 2003-2004: "Definizione dello stato delle conoscenze in materia di pericolosità sismica del territorio regionale, con approfondimento su elementi e aree particolari" - a project funded by Regione Toscana.
  • 2002-2005: "Diagnostica e salvaguardia di manufatti architettonici con particolare riferimento agli effetti derivanti da eventi sismici ed altre calamità naturali" - a project funded by Italy’s Ministry of Research and Education through the program FISR.
  • 2001-2004: Slow Active Faults in Europe (SAFE) - a project funded by the E.C.
  • 2000-2004: Probable earthquakes in Italy 2000-2030 - a project funded by the Italian Civil Defense through the Gruppo Nazionale per la Difesa dai Terremoti.
  • 1998-2001: FAUlts as a Seismologists' Tool (FAUST) - a project funded by the E.C.
